A Modern Apprenticeship is a job which lets people earn a wage and gain an industry-recognised qualification through work-based learning. It’s an opportunity open to both new hires and existing employees who are between the ages of 16 to 29 years old. Work-based learning is an excellent way to help staff learn new skills while continuing to fulfil their job role. They typically take 12 to 18 months for a learner to complete. There is no cost to the employer for the training opportunity beyond the existing cost of the employees’ wages/salary.
There are 3 types of Apprenticeship:
Foundation apprenticeships are typically aimed at secondary school pupils to gain work experience alongside their school work and to develop staff as coaches and mentors.
Modern Apprenticeships focus on upskilling existing employees and providing extra support and training for new starts.
Graduate Apprenticeships offer a high level of academic and industry accreditation, combined with experience in the workplace. They’re great for businesses with specific skills needs. Apprentices will work with us 80% of the time and dedicate 20% of their time to developing skills at university or college.
Requests to recruit apprentices should be referred to the Volunteering and Placements Development Officer.
